
Jo Golden Jones departed this life on October 23rd, 2017. She was born on August 21, 1927 in Five Points, AL to Elmer Holmes Golden and Ann Lovic Barber Golden. She is preceded in death by her husband, Newton Albert Jones, whom she married in 1946, her two sisters Margaret Easterwood and Jean Clark Baldwin, and grandson Robert Benton Ellis.
Jo was a much-loved Mama, Grandmama, Great-grandmama, Aunt and Friend. She loved to cook for her family and made sure they never left her home less than stuffed. She loved to spoil her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was the best shopping partner ever. She most recently resided at Manor on the Square and Charter Assisted Living, where she was known as the Trivia Queen for her ability to recall songs and poems from times past.
Jo is survived by her two daughters Cece Ellis and Cindy Crowder, and their husbands Bob and Bob. Included in her legacy are her grandchildren (and their spouses) Scot Crowder, Kim Cary, Megan Houck, Amalie Johnson, Tori Acton, Ashley McDowell, and Jaime Ellis, and great-grandchildren Will and Emma Cary, Liz and Nicholas Crowder, Avery and Albert Houck, Raven Bergeron, Ellis McDowell, Katherine Ellis, and Kaiden and Madison Johnson.
A celebration of life will be held graveside at Georgia National Memorial Cemetery in Canton Georgia on Tuesday, October 31st at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Celiac Disease Foundation, or American Cancer Society.
