Joe A. Harrison

Joe Harrison, 91, of Marietta, GA, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2016. Joe was born in Long Creek, South Carolina, to the late Lila and Alex Harrison, and is the 3rd oldest of 13 children. He is survived by his wife, Maggi, of 34 years; 3 children, Diane Smith, of Ballground, GA, Steve Harrison, of Eastman, GA, and Mark Harrison, of Waleska, GA; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; 4 siblings and former wife, Rebecca Cherry. Joe grew up in South Carolina, and graduated from Clemson University in 1950 with a BSME degree. He was a WWII Navy Veteran, serving from 1943 – 1946. He was employed by Lockheed from 1952 – 1987 working in engineering/managerial capacities at Burbank, CA; Southall, England; Kennedy Space Center, FL; Vandenberg AFB, CA; Marietta, GA. His assignments included design on the C130 and C5A aircraft.

Visitation will be held at H.M. Patterson & Son Canton Hill Chapel, 1157 Old Canton Road, Marietta, GA on June 7, 2016, from 5:00PM to 8:00PM; the funeral will be at 11:00AM on June 8, 2016. Joe will be buried in the Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr., Canton, GA, at 2:00PM on June 8, 2016.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Fund or the American Diabetes Association.
