John Roswell Cartee Jr.

John was born on Jan 3, 1929 in Savannah GA to John and Ruby Cartee. He grew up on the family farm in Metter GA. The family later moved to Jacksonville Fl.

John quit High school to join the Air force. John served in England and in the Berlin Air Lift after WWII. On Jan 24, 1953, John married the love of his life- Laura Elizabeth Murray. John and Libby were married 48 years. In May 1965 John accepted a job with Lockheed Martin in Marietta, GA. He moved his family back to Georgia. John worked as an airplane mechanic on the various military planes. Eventually, working his way as a final flight inspector. He did is job so well that the Air Force would ask for John when they came to Lockheed. He worked for Lockheed for 35 years. A job he truly enjoyed.

John enjoyed his life, he loved being a husband, father ,grandfather and great grandfather. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Libby and his parents. He is survived by their three children, Daughter, Denise Dufresne (Alan), son Michael ( Marion) and daughter Cindy Griffin (David). Grandchildren: Brain Cartee ( Ria), Jonathan Holder, Jason Holder ( Amber), Chris Cartee Dufrense ( Heather) , Dale Cartee (Amy) , Ann Wilber ( Kevin) also but his great grandchildren: JJ, Eli & Bentley Holder, Aj, Molly & Aiden Wilber, Kaimen Cartee and Ursa Dufresne

Arrangements are being handled by Georgia Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family ask that a donation be made to Tranquility Hospice of Kennesaw Mountain or a charity of your choice.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home with Pastor Shane Frazier officiating. interment will follow in Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, December 1, 2014 from 4-8 pm.
