David was a loving father, grandfather, family member, and friend to all who knew him. Following in his fathers footsteps he possessed the most wonderful, kind, gentle, loving and caring spirit. He took pride in his family, and especially in his role as a father and grandfather. David proudly served as a Commercial Appraiser for the Fulton County Board of Tax Assessors for 30 years before retiring from Fulton County. He continued his career with Tyler Technologies as a Senior Appraisal Analyst for more than 10 years, working alongside the Cobb County Board of Tax Assessors on its commercial appraisal contract.
Though his passing was sudden and unexpected, the love, memories, and impact he leaves behind will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Duell Gilstrap, and mother, Patricia Collier Gilstrap. Surviving are: Daughter, Hannah Logan (Christopher) of Cartersville, and her mother, Alice Ann Miller, with whom he shared a life long friendship, one granddaughter, Olivia, one grandson, Noah. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, a cause that was close to his heart.
Funeral Service will take place at Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel, on September 26, 2026, at 2:30 pm. Burial will follow the service in the Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 pm until the service time at 2:30 pm.
