John graduated from Derby Senior High School and earned a degree in Music from Wichita State University. He worked for IBM and later served faithfully as the organist at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, where he was a beloved part of the congregation.
A gifted musician, John found joy in playing both the organ and piano, and he especially cherished time spent with his family. He was dedicated to encouraging others in their walk of faith and lived a life marked by service and devotion.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sisters, Jenny Crouse and Mary L Frederick. John is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Ann Shaw; his sons, John David Shaw (Kristen) and Jason Daniel Shaw (Julie); and his grandchildren, Sarah, Luke, Andrew, Micah, Austin, Campbell, and Holly.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 14, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at H.M. Patterson & Son – Canton Hill Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church 955 Johnson Ferry Road, Marietta, GA 30068.
