Born on December 20, 1951, Joseph was the son of the late Robert Winn Hurst and Patsy Culver Hurst. He graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and was self-employed throughout his professional life.
In his spare time, Joseph enjoyed collecting art and spending quiet moments outdoors, sitting and watching nature. He appreciated the beauty of the world around him and found enjoyment in the simple pleasures of life.
Joseph is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Scarbrough Hurst; his siblings, Clay Hurst, Matthew Hurst, Ansley Hurst Pascoli and his nephews, Clayton Hurst, Henry Hurst, Cale Pascoli, Lawson Pascoli, and John Pascoli. He will be remembered by his family and loved ones with affection and cherished memories.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday, October 14, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at H.M. Patterson & Son Canton Hill Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., with Father Jince officiating.
Following the service, a procession will proceed to Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, Georgia, where Joseph will be laid to rest.
