Joseph Franklin Martin Sr

In 1955, at the age of eighteen, Joseph joined the U.S. Naval Reserve and in 1962, was called to active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Later in life, he worked for Western Electric, AT&T and Lucent for thirty years before he retired.

On February 20, 2003 he married his loving wife, Dorothy, and they spent the following twenty years together before his passing. In his spare time, Joseph enjoyed playing golf and watching movies. He loved to spend quality time with his wife and close circle of friends. He will be deeply missed.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his late wife, Beverly Sweat Martin; son, Joseph Franklin Martin Jr; brothers and stepdaughter.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Hyde Martin; stepdaughter, Jennifer Quinn; step granddaughters, Taylor (Blake) Neese, Ariel Quinn, and Salem Quinn; step grandson, Alex Quinn; great stepdaughter, step great granddaughter, Makenna Neese; nephews, Chuck Martin (Desiree'), Carl Martin; niece Donna Martin Jennings (Scott), and several great nephews and great nieces and friends to cherish his memory.

A Celebration of Life service for Mr. Joseph F. Martin Sr. will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 2:00pm in the chapel of HM Patterson and Son Canton Hill, 1157 Old Canton Rd., Marietta, Georgia 30068.
