

Robert Lee Boatwright and Mary Leo Green Boatwright Nall. She graduated from Tallapoosa High School in Tallapoosa, Georgia in 1952. In 1954 she moved to Atlanta and took a position with Aetna Life Insurance. It was there she was swept off her feet by the dashing Ottis Franklin Cleghorn Jr., and they were married after a whirlwind three-month courtship. They were married just shy of seventy-one years before his passing. Ottis was in the military, and they were transferred to Seattle, Washington. They later moved back to Atlanta, Georgia and were then transferred to New Orleans, Louisiana in 1961. In 1969, they moved for the last time to Marietta, Georgia. Joyce worked in insurance, banking and the retail industry.
She enjoyed traveling and experiencing new places. She visited all 50 states, many countries in Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
Joyce traveled through most of North America by camper. She enjoyed all kinds of board and card games. Joyce and Ottis became quite the dancers. She enjoyed ballroom and square dancing but if you had to move your feet, she was up for it. Mom enjoyed the Hallmark Channel, Dancing with the Stars, American Idol and Blue Bloods. She was also an active member of her church.
Mrs. Cleghorn was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ottis; grandson, Joshua Stanley; brothers, Derl Boatwright and James Boatwright and Janice; stepfather, Carl Nall.
She is survived by her children, Pam Stanley and Bill, of Powder Springs, GA, Keith Cleghorn and Leigh, of Hiram, GA and Jeff Cleghorn and Sandra, of Canton, GA; grandchildren, Jason O’Neal, Heather Fenn and Casey, Ryan Cleghorn, Joey Stanley and Bailey, Katie Rawdon and Chris; great-grandchildren, Annabelle Fenn, Scarlett Fenn, Ingram Fenn, John Fenn, Tori Fenn and Nolan Rawdon; brother-in-law, Dwight Huggins; sisters-in-law, Maggie Cleghorn, Judy Cleghorn, JoAnn Button and Judy Nix and extended family members and friends to cherish her memory.
Friends and family are cordially invited for a visitation from 11:00am to 12:00pm on Sunday, December 28, 2025, followed by the funeral service at 12:00pm, 2025, with her son-in-law, Bill Stanley officiating at H.M. Patterson Funeral Home, Old Canton Rd, Marietta, Ga. Mrs. Cleghorn will be laid to rest in the Georgia National Cemetery on January 7, 2026.
