Juliet Lynne Johnson, 52, departed this life on Friday, April 9, 2021, in Atlanta, Georgia. Juliet was a graduate of Grambling State University’s Bachelors and Louisiana State University’s Masters of Public Administration Programs. It was through her strong faith in God that she lived an inspiring life and had a gratifying career. She served formerly, as an admissions counselor and Director of Admissions for The Episcopal School of Baton Rouge, The Weber School in Atlanta, Georgia, an Associate Dean of Admissions at Millsaps College, Assistant Director of Admissions at Spelman College, and Dean of Recruitment and Admissions at Fisk University. Through these tenures, Juliet made a positive difference in the lives of the many students and co-workers she touched.
Juliet was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, a former member of the Junior League of Baton Rouge, and was affiliated with the National Association of College Admission Counseling (NACAC) Southern Association of College Admission Counseling (SACAC) Southern Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admission Officers (SACRAO), and served on the Common Application Board of Directors.
Juliet was an avid tennis player and fan and a voracious reader. Her knowledge of trivia could rival any game show competitor. She loved to travel abroad and had many places she wanted to explore. Juliet was gifted in bringing stories to life. One could get to feel that they were experiencing the same adventure or escapade in which she was involved. Like the movie, “Six Degrees of Separation”, Juliet seemed to know everyone as she easily made friends. She loved to share advice and help people learn from her. She enjoyed advising students and was very skilled in getting to know students and their strengths. She always strived to ensure her students enrolled in colleges and universities where they would thrive. Juliet always put in her best effort to make the institutions where she worked shine. She was resilient, a fighter, and a compassionate friend, willing to see the best in people and give people a chance. Most of all, Juliet loved spending time with her family, including her fur baby cats Sydney, Paris, and Boston.
Juliet was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Joseph B. Johnson and Lula Young Johnson of Atlanta, GA, grandparents, Sidney T. Johnson, Sr. and Lillie Mickens Johnson, and Ardes Bennett and Oliver Young. Juliet leaves to cherish her memory, two sisters, Yolanda Johnson Dixon (James) of Baton Rouge, LA, and Julie L. Johnson, of Atlanta, GA; a brother, Joseph B. Johnson, III (Karen) of Alexandria, VA; a niece and nephew, Kelsey and Benjamin Johnson; a beloved aunt, Gladys Martin of Hammond, LA, and a host of cousins, colleagues, and dear friends.
In honor of Juliet’s wishes, a private graveside dismissal will be held. The family invites you to share your thoughts, fond memories, and condolences on line, at Juliet's virtual memorial at Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Our hearts are broken by her sudden departure from this life. She was cherished and loved by her family and friends, but God loved her best.
