June Charlotte Hanson

June was born on July 20, 1940, at East Orange General Hospital in East Orange, New Jersey to father, John Hanson, who owned a tool shop in Belleville, and mother, Ruth Anderson Hanson, who later became Ruth Anderson Hanson Townsend and worked as a housekeeper. She attended Brookdale Elementary School and South Junior High before graduating from Bloomfield Senior High School in 1958. She continued her education at Upsala College in East Orange, completing two semesters of study in social work and education. In May 1961, June married Vernon Moorman and moved to Germany, where he was stationed with the military. While living there, they welcomed their first son, Jonathon. Thereafter, their other sons where born, Scott in 1963 and Frank in1969. That same year, they returned to New Jersey and purchased June's childhood home in Bloomfield, where they raised their family. In 1984, June and Vernon went their separate ways. In 1995, she moved to Marietta, Georgia, where she made her home with her sons, for the remainder of her life.

While raising her children, June operated a small home business and worked as a medical receptionist for several physicians. After relocating to Georgia, she worked as a dedicated employee for many years before retiring in 2005. June was a woman of deep faith and generous spirit. She taught Sunday School for many years and, after retirement, dedicated countless hours volunteering with local community theaters. She found joy in painting, traveling, cruising, and, above all, creating lasting memories with her family and grandchildren.

An adventurous traveler, June treasured the experiences she had through her many tripsx.One of her proudest accomplishments was hiking a portion of the Appalachian Trail from New Jersey into Pennsylvania.During her ten months of living in Germany, she embraced a new culture while beginning her journey as a mother. Her love of travel led her to amazing destinations around the world. She crossed the International Date Line, sailed across the Equator, and marveled at the Southern Cross while cruising the South Pacific, where Tahiti became one of her favorite places. In Saint Lucia, she swam with stingrays, and in Bermuda, she explored the ocean. She was on an Alaskan cruise during the tragic events of September 11, 2001, a day she remembered for the rest of her life. June also visited Ephesus in Türkiye, where she was deeply moved by the traditional site of the home of Mary, the mother of Jesus. Her adventures also took her camel riding in the Moroccan desert and to Sweden, where she visited the birthplace of her father, connecting with her family's heritage. Her legacy will continue through her family’s love and her friends and families’ stories that they share.

June was preceded in death by her father, John Hanson and her mother, Ruth Anderson Hanson Townsend. She is survived by her sister, Lucille; her brothers, John (Stella) and James (Joyce); her sons, Jonathon (Erika), Scott (Liping), and Frank; and her cherished grandchildren, Jeremy, Elizabeth, Brianna, and Kevin along with extended family members and friends to cherish her memory. June will be remembered for her spirit, deep faith, creative heart, and the love she shared with her family and friends. Her warmth, curiosity, and appreciation for life's many adventures leave a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.
