Born on May 19, 1947, in Bonner Springs, Kansas, Kathy was the daughter of Eleanor and Emmett Conlan. She graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1965, after which she immediately took to the skies, finding her true calling as a flight attendant.
For 35 years, Kathy worked as a flight attendant for both Trans World Airlines (TWA) and American Airlines. Her career highlights included her dedicated service as a flight attendant in the Civil Reserve Air Fleet, where she bravely flew troops to and from Operation Desert Storm. Based out of Boston, Massachusetts, she spent 25 years in Marblehead, Mass., where she made lifelong friends and countless treasured memories.
Upon her retirement from flying, Kathy moved close to her roots, settling in Lake Waukomis, Missouri, just down the street from her sister. Retirement, however, did not keep her on the ground; she continued her love for travel, embarking on many fun trips around the world, often alongside her adored first cousin, Jill Bright.
In her final years, she moved to Sandy Springs, Georgia, to be near her brother, nephews, and great niece. Kathy will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eleanor and Emmett Conlan, and her brothers, Gary Conlan and Patrick Conlan.
Kathy is survived by her loving sister, Helen Conlan Eckhardt (John); her nephews, Brian Andrew Conlan (Rae) and James Gary Conlan; and her adored great niece, Rae Louise Conlan, who affectionately nicknamed her "Aunt Kitty."
In accordance with Kathy's wishes, cremation has taken place. Her ashes will be interred at a later date at Resurrection Cemetery in Overland Park, Kansas and scattered in two of her most cherished places: Marblehead, Massachusetts, and Paris, France.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Kathy’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
