

Kirby Lee Holt of Marietta, GA was born October 10, 1927 and passed away on March 13, 2024 in the amazing care of Wellstar Tranquility Hospice. He was born in Fort Wayne, IN to Lou Fannie Holt and James Leroy Holt.
Kirby was a graduate of Indiana State University and almost completed his masters while working numerous jobs. He was a veteran of WWII and a true patriot serving in the US Army as well as the Reserves, both Army and Naval.
Kirby's 50 plus years in manufacturing of plastic film included many opportunities such as production, management and sales. He chose to work well into his 80's.
Kirby was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was very active in the Scottish Rite and Shrine. It was not uncommon for a family member to be awakened to Kirby playing the horn from the oriental band instead of an alarm clock. Kirby was also a member of Mt. Bethel Church in Marietta, and always enjoyed the Wednesday Special Projects Group at the church.
Kirby was very athletic in school, playing both football and baseball. He was even offered a Pro baseball contract. He was also an avid golfer and won the Indian Hills Golf Championship in 1999. He finally had a hole in one in the GA State Senior tournament at the age of 86. Musically, Kirby had a passion for country music and loved playing his custom pedal steel guitar.
Kirby is preceded in death by his parents, Lou Fanny Tucker and James Leroy Holt; sister, Frances Arnold; daughter, Cheryl Czajkiwski; grandson, Scott Holt and granddaughter, Michelle Cook.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Shirley Holt; daughters, Mary and Denise; sons, Alan, Dale, Jeff and James; 11 grandchildren and many many great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, March 19th at Mt. Bethel Church in Marietta, GA. He will lie in repose an hour prior to the service. The family invites you to a reception following the service in the church connector.
