OBITUARY

Laverne Allen-Algarin

October 27, 1955November 1, 2011

Mrs. Laverne Allen Algarin, 56, of Marietta, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011. She is survived by her spouse of 33 years, Thomas Algarin, and many, many friends and family members who loved her very much.

Laverne and Thomas met in New York City in 1978, and they moved to Atlanta, GA in 1981. They were together for over 30 years, and were twice married in Atlanta—once in a civil ceremony and once in a Catholic ceremony at Sacred Heart Church.

Laverne was a wonderful wife, homemaker, companion, and friend to Thomas. She enjoyed oil painting, religious studies and philosophy, dancing, music, travel, adventure, swimming, and theatre arts. Her love of life and family were her defining character. She was a happy, joyous, easy-going and giving spirit, and she was kind to everyone she met.

Laverne was born in New York City, NY, October 27, 1955, to Louie C. Allen and Elizabeth Allen. She was one of six siblings, Robert “Bobby” Allen, Johnnie Allen, Louie Allen (deceased), Geneva Allen, and Tammy Allen. Her late father Louie was from Milledgeville, GA and her mother Elizabeth is from Rock Hill, SC. Laverne’s uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews from the Butts-Allen family in Milledgeville, and her birthplace New York, will miss her dearly.

The family will receive friends Friday, November 4, 2011 from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 5th, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 4465 Northside Drive, NW, Atlanta, GA. Interment will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.

Laverne was my dearest sister friend and I will miss her always. I know she is watching us and all she ever wanted from us all was to love one another. Kind hearted and fancy free and always in my heart. I cannot think of a time we argued, but she was no angel and she taught me alot about forgiveness and making new friends. I knew I was in for a ride when she would tell me, "Come on Let's go have an adventure!". Well love I know we will catch up when I see you again and I know you will be there waiting patiently. Love you and Tomas so much and will check on him to make sure he is good, Our Latin From Manhattan. God bless you girl and may he also bless all of us cause we are gonna miss you much.
