Lillie was preceded in death by her husband Johnny Wylie, her brother Johnny Barrows, and her three grandchildren; Larry Reese, Anna Woodard, and Lazekiel Reese.
At a very young age Lillie began her walk with Christ attending Sardis Baptist Church in Kennesaw, GA. While there, she was baptized and actively sung in her church choir. Later on, Lillie moved her membership to Back to the Bible Holiness Church in Marietta, GA where she diligently ushered and assisted in making the yearly vacation bible school the success that it was. She finished her race at Great Faith COGIC in Marietta, GA as an active member on Pastor’s Aid and the Mother’s Board.
Lillie attended nursing school in her early teens alongside her sister Minnie and worked as a Food Service Specialist at Dobbins Air Force Base and Marietta City Schools. Later in her life she began driving buses for Marietta City Schools and she remained in that position for over twenty years. She used that opportunity to demonstrate her love of Christ and to make a positive impact on the youth.
Lillie’s heart was so full of God’s love she made it her personal mission to share it with everyone she came in contact with. By the early 1980's, she answered God’s call for her life and began fostering children through Cobb County DFACS. In fact, Lillie’s heart was so full of love she decided to give a permanent home to four children she called her own. Lillie fostered for over thirty years and she cared for and loved on HUNDREDS of children entrusted to her.
After retirement, Lillie indulged in her second calling; family and cooking. Family, second to God was the most important thing to her. She loved to cook and spend time planning events for the family. She enjoyed hosting holiday dinners, summer picnics at the park, and get-togethers at Sparkles Skating Rink.
After pouring into her children and grandchildren for so many years, she was blessed with yet another gift from God; great grandchildren. Lillie’s great grandchildren became the lights of her life. She would do or give anything just to see the smiles on their faces. They truly became the highlight of her days. Lillie spent most days teaching her great grandchildren about the unyielding love of God and the importance of living a life following Christ. At the age of 83, God’s love still flowed tremendously from her heart. A job well done Mother Wylie, job well done.
Lillie leaves behind two sisters Minnie Milton and Laura-Jean Redding; her eight children, Lawanda Reese, Susan Woodard(Boris Sr.), Cynthia Blassingame(David Sr.), Kennedy Wylie(Donna), Gerald Harmon, Michael Harmon Jr.(Sherronda), Melissa Aguilar-Richard(Juan) and Lillian Wylie along with her 23 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
