Mrs. Lorene Lord McWhorter, age 90 of Marietta, passed away April 24, 2011. Born in Fulton County, Georgia , Mrs. McWhorter grew up and attended school in Bolton. She retired from Lockheed Aircraft after 33 years of service, a loyal member of International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. After retirement she devoted time working with MUST Ministries of Marietta, and she was a certified Lay Speaker for United Methodist Women. She was preceded in death by her son, Walter Charles “Chuck” Power.
She is survived by her daughters, Louise Power Davey (husband, Roland L. Davey) of Forest City, NC, and Lauta Power Gangis (husband, Aivars J. Gangis) of Halethorpe, MD; grandsons, William Leonard Davey and wife Leslie, of Midlothian, VA, and Kenneth Lee Davey and wife Allena, of Forest City, NC; six great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Graveside Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 6, at 10:00 AM at Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org in the name of Lorene Lord McWhorter.
