Louise Marie Hellman passed away on July 12, 2018 at the age of 76 years. She graduated from Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa and soon after earned her Master’s Degree from The University of Georgia.
While Louise thoroughly enjoyed her career of 27 years as a Cobb County Public School teacher, her passion and heart always led her to serving others while unconditionally sharing the love of Christ.
As a long time member of Mt Zion United Methodist Church in East Cobb County, Louise not only served on the missions board, but also took an active role in living out what she supported by taking numerous short term mission trips to Costa Rica and Slovakia. Most recently her heart led her to begin a blanket ministry that provided hand-made fleece blankets to sick and terminally ill individuals.
If you could not find Louise busy around the church or enjoying her mountain cabin in North GA with her husband, you could find her serving at the Craddock Center in Cherry Log, GA where they promoted literacy through educational and cultural programs for children, families, and communities in Southern Appalachia.
Louise is survived by her Husband of 55 years, Gordon, sons Mark (Jennifer) and Scott (Leslie) and 4 grandchildren (Ethan, Sarah Grace, Gavin and Claire) whom she deeply loved.
Friends and neighbors are invited to join the family at a visitation to be held at HM Patterson and Son Canton Hill Funeral Home, 1157 Old Canton Road, Marietta GA, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, July 16, 2018.
