Lucille Moore Shenkel

Born to parents Frank & Ada Moore, Lucy was the surprise youngest of four children raised in the Kansas countryside on a farm.

Lucy met her future husband, Roger Shenkel, on a blind date. They married in 1950 and together remained dedicated to their children and communities until his passing in 1994.

Lucy was an excellent seamstress and sewed most of her children’s clothes. She was proud of her career in telecommunications at Contel as an Executive Administrative Assistant. After retirement she redirected her energies toward volunteering and the church, with a passion for bridge club, and a sideline as an actor.

Eventually, in 2004, Lucy met her companion Charley Maire. They were inseparable until his passing in 2016.

A loving mother and grandmother, Lucy is survived by her children Nancy and Mark and her grandson Damion.

Her service will be held at Mt Bethel UMC at 11 am on Thursday, March 23, 2017. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Camp Hope or the Veterans Ministry, in care of Mt Bethel UMC.
