

Mr. Lucine David “L.D.” Butler, age 78, of Marietta, GA passed away Thursday, January 9, 2014 due to complications from Alzheimer’s. A memorial service will be held at 1 o’clock on Monday, January 13th at H.M. Patterson & Son Canton Hill Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12 to 1 o’clock. L.D. was born in Silver Grove, KY and was raised in Dallas, GA. He served in the Naval Reserves and was a member of the American Legion, Post 29 of Marietta. Alongside his brothers, he founded many successful independent business enterprises, including Butler Bros. Tire Company, Clete Boyer Rent-A-Car, and the first shopping center in Paulding County. A great lover of life, friends, and family, L.D. never met a stranger; punctuating his long hours of hard work, he loved to run, sing, dance, and make you smile. Mr. Butler is survived by his wife of 44 years, Barbara Thurman Butler; a son, Blake Butler; a daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Justin (Morgan) Kendall; a brother, Tommy; sisters, Doris Andrews and Bonnie Pate; many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th fl., New York, NY 10001. H.M.
