

Ransom was a native of Atlanta, GA. He graduated from Darlington School in Rome, GA in 1953. He attended Georgia Tech until 1955. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Ransom was a prominent Atlanta Home Builder/General Contractor and was President of Burts Construction Company until the late 1980s. He was a past President of the Atlanta Home Builders Association. In 1989, he co-founded Kenny’s Great Pies, Inc. with son and President, Kenny Burts, in Smyrna, GA and served as Chief Financial Officer. Recently, Kenny’s Great Pies, Inc. celebrated 25 successful years in business. Ransom served the company proudly until his final days.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kathleen Bailey Burts Milton and Luther Ransom Burts, Sr., his daughter, Christina Burts and grandchildren, Jack Patton Muter and Christina Bailey Muter. He was also preceded in death by his nephew, Robert H. “Rick” Smith, III.
Ransom is survived by his wife, Marjorie Cater Burts, his sister, Martha Smith Bogle, and his children, Luther, Ransom Burts, III. and wife, Kimberly D. Burts, Kenneth Daniel Burts and wife, Ellen Marie Burts, Laura Burts Hinson and husband, Scotland E. Hinson and Kathleen Burts Muter and husband, Gary T. Muter, Jr. He is survived by his grandchildren, Luther Ransom Burts, IV., Jessica Gwendolyn Burts, Ryan Daniel Burts, Travis Dean Burts, Jacob Scotland Hinson, Kaylee Lowndes Hinson and Ava Kathleen Muter. He is also survived by niece, Kathleen Smith Davis, nephew, Reed Ransom Smith and niece, Cassandana Sullivan Kropp, nephew, Charles Henry “Trey” Sullivan, III., sister-in-law and caregiver, Cassandra C. Sullivan and goddaughter, Ashley Moore.
A Visitation will be held from 12:30-2PM and a Memorial Service will follow at 2 PM on Monday, April 13th at H.M. Patterson and Son Canton Hill in Marietta.
