Marc Katz passed away on March 18, 2019 in Marietta, GA at age 47. Born in Chicago, IL on September 27, 1971, Marc was raised in Cobb County, Georgia going to Murdock Elementary and Dodgen Middle School. He went on to graduate from George Walton Comprehensive High School with honors in 1989. Marc attended The Georgia Institute of Technology graduating in 1994 with a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Marc was a proud member of the Gamma Tau chapter of Phi Gamma Delta at GA Tech. Some of his most enduring friendships were formed during his time on campus and remained incredibly special to him throughout his life.
Marc enjoyed golfing and was a member at Indian Hills Country Club in Marietta, where he also played tennis. He had many travel adventures with his family and also enjoyed skiing, cycling, going to concerts, and being at the lake. Marc grilled and barbecued for many gatherings of friends and family for a number of annual 4th of July parties. Marc took great joy in watching his son play ice hockey and traveled to many cities to cheer for Luke and his teammates.
In January of 1995, Marc began his impressive career with The Coca-Cola Company as a project manager for Coca-Cola Enterprises. Over the years Marc navigated many roles successfully with increasing responsibility transitioning from bottling operations to the Coca-Cola Freestyle team and finally served as Senior Operations Director, CPS Americas, where Marc was responsible for all operational aspects across seven manufacturing centers and associated warehouses for CPS Americas. During his tenure at CPS, Marc was part of a team delivering aid to hurricane ravaged region of Puerto Rico.
Marc is predeceased by his mother, Susan Katz of Marietta. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Cindie Franklin Katz and their son Luke, 13; his father Dale Katz of Gainesville, GA, his brothers Steve Katz (Pam), and David Katz (Daphne); nephews Chris and Kevin Katz, and Hunter Franklin; nieces Shana and Rachel Katz; Aunt Rhea Katz Kleeblatt and his in-laws David and Sue Franklin.
The family will receive guests between 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm on Friday, March 22, 2019 at H.M. Paterson & Son - Canton Hill, in Marietta. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019 also at H.M. Paterson & Son - Canton Hill in Marietta.
