August 14, 1943 – July 7, 2025
It is with deep sadness and profound love that we announce the passing of Marcia Ellen Hail Cutter, who died peacefully in her sleep on July 7, 2025, in Marietta, Georgia. She was 81 years old.
Born on August 14, 1943, in San Francisco, California, Marcia was a proud graduate of the University of California, Berkeley. She went on to have a dynamic career as a flight attendant with United Airlines, embracing her love of travel.
Marcia made her home in both Marietta, GA and Santa Rosa Beach, FL, where she filled her days with the things and people she loved most. A devoted mother and “Nonnie,” Marcia leaves behind her beloved children: Douglas Michael Cutter (Brooke), David Matthew Cutter (Paula), Jennifer Brooke Biehler (Ned), Darren Mark Cutter (Laura), and Molly Paige Henson (Beau); and her cherished grandchildren: Derek, Emily, Hayden, Catarina, Jack, Caroline, Julianna, Davis, McCall, Luke, Wade, and Port—all of whom brought her immeasurable joy and called her Nonnie with love.
Marcia discovered a passion for tennis in her 40s while living in Indian Hills and never looked back. She played every chance she could on teams in both Georgia and Florida. She was a fierce competitor with a playful heart—so much so that she’d stop a match if a bug landed on the court, ensuring it was safely moved before play continued.
Her deep love for animals was unmatched. Marcia often said she loved animals more than people, and it showed in everything she did. Her treasured Maltese dogs, Mischie and Brody, were never far from her side.
Though petite in stature, Marcia’s personality was larger than life. She was bold, vibrant, and unapologetically herself—a woman who lived with purpose, humor, profound generosity and an unmatched devotion to her family. Her favorite phrase, "Make Memories," was more than words—it was how she lived her life.
Marcia was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Esther Pirenian Hail and Leonard Keating Hail, and her dear brother, Leonard Keating Hail, II. She was laid to rest beside her brother at Mountain View Park Cemetery in Marietta, Georgia on Wednesday, July 9th.
Her family, her animals, and her tennis racquet were at the center of her world. Marcia’s legacy will live on through the countless memories she created with those who loved her—and through the love she gave so freely and fiercely.
