Marilyn Louise ANDERSON

June 8, 1924August 1, 2019

Marilyn Louise (Koll) Anderson, 95, of Sandy Springs, GA passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2019 after a brief illness. She is survived by Maynard V. (Cap) Anderson, her loving partner of 71 years, with whom she shared many songs, dances, picnics, and family celebrations. Together they raised six children and delighted in being involved in the lives of their eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Marilyn was born on June 8, 1924 in Fort Dodge IA. She is predeceased by her parents Rosanna and Harry Koll, and brothers John and Gene Koll. A vivacious and precocious young woman, she served the church cooking meals for the nuns before and after school. After graduating from Sacred Heart School in Fort Dodge, she moved to Omaha NE and was an independent young working woman. She enjoyed hikes, playing bridge, and dancing, and had a lovely group of girl friends who she remained close to for years. She met Cap at a USO dance; she said he made her laugh and that is why she married him. She was a fan of stock car racing, hockey, baseball and wrestling, as well as being an expert quilter, seamstress and cook. She passed on her many loves to her children: Jan King (Eddie); Susan Pursell (David-d); Judy Anderson; Douglas Anderson (Ruby-d); Teresa Long (Wade); and Charlene Anderson (George Browning). Her grandchildren and great grandchildren already miss her fun-loving smile: Jonathan Tucker (daughter, Iris Yarc), Andrea Tucker and children Mackenzie, Lauren and Aaron Dell; Audra and Tyler Pursell; Max Anderson and Rosie Reichenstein (Michael); Katie and Carson Long. We are all sad that Marilyn will miss the birth of her first great, great grandchild due in November. Extended family in West Des Moines IA include brother Kenneth and Marian Koll, and nephew Christopher Koll (Heidi, John and Elizabeth). Marilyn earned many friends wherever the family lived including Des Moines, IA, Kansas City, KC, Chicago, IL, Cleveland, OH, Omaha NE, and Marietta, GA. The Catholic Church of St. Ann’s and the Ladies Knights of Columbus were her precious spiritual home. She enjoyed a long career in ladies fashion sales at Davison’s and Richs department stores. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at 11:00am at the Catholic Church of St. Ann, in Marietta. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Marilyn’s honor be made to the Catholic Church of St. Ann, 4905 Roswell Road, Marietta Ga 30062.

I remember how much fun it was helping Marilyn and Cap celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary at a surprise party that her children put together. They were so happy and loved the event and one another. Marilyn did a fabulous job raising six wonderful children. I am blessed I got to know her.

Mom, I will always treasure the vision of you cradling my babies, cooing and smiling and caring so deeply for them. You taught by love and example and I will always be grateful. Don't worry, we will take care of Dad. Blessings and I love you. - Judy
