Martin Joel Bergstrom

Martin was born on October 22, 1984, in Marietta, Georgia, to Martin Joel Bergstrom and Elizabeth Bergstrom. He was a devoted son and a cherished member of his family.

Martin was a graduate of Kennesaw Mountain High School and Rollins College, where he earned his undergraduate degree in Philosophy. He went on to earn his law degree from Mercer University School of Law and practiced as an attorney. Martin was proud of his work and valued the opportunity it gave him to advocate for others, offer guidance, and make a difference in the lives of those he served. Health challenges eventually brought that chapter of his professional life to a close.

Martin was survived by his wife, Erin Pailthorpe, by his parents, Marty and Betsy Bergstrom; sister, Jessica Pugh, Susan Gantt and Kirk Larson (Aunt and Uncle), Mary Ellen Pugh (niece), Mary and Richard Machanoff (Aunt and Uncle), Beth Bergstrom (Aunt) and many cousins.

Outside of his professional life, Martin enjoyed many simple pleasures. He loved attending music concerts, fishing, reading, watching movies, and spending time with his beloved pets. These interests brought him joy and created many lasting memories.

Martin will be remembered for the relationships he formed, the lives he touched, and the memories he created with family and friends. His life, though far too short, was meaningful and will be remembered with love by those who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at St. Catherine’s Episcopal Church, 517 Holt Road, Marietta, Georgia.

Martin’s family and friends will carry his memory with them and remember with love the person he was and the place he held in their lives.
