

Mary Brooks, age 64, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 1, 2025. A beloved mother, friend, and neighbor, Mary’s life was marked by kindness, resilience, and an unwavering dedication to those she loved.
Born in Port Mourant, Guyana, to the late Paul and Hannah Rawana, Mary went on to earn a Bachelor’s in Nursing from Ryerson University in Toronto and a Master’s degree in Psychology from Southern California University, a field that perfectly matched her natural empathy and desire to help others.
Mary brought warmth and light into every room she entered. Her gentle wisdom, vibrant sense of humor, and selfless spirit left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Whether through her professional life or personal relationships, she devoted herself to lifting others up and offering a safe space for comfort, understanding, and joy.
She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—traveling to new places, going on leisurely walks, spending time with her family and friends, and enjoying the quiet moments in her garden. A lover of the arts and knowledge, Mary also enjoyed painting, dancing, watching documentaries, and immersing herself in books and was also part of many bible study groups near her home.
In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her beloved sisters Elizabeth, Margaret, Rachel, and Rosemary. She is survived by her three devoted children Laura Brooks, Katherine Brooks, and John Brooks; their father Gregory Brooks; her sisters Mona and Ramdei; and her brother Samuel.
Her presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew her.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of H.M. Patterson & Son – Canton Hill, located at 1157 Old Canton Road NE, Marietta, GA 30068. A reception will follow, offering an opportunity for family and friends to gather in remembrance, share stories, and honor the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
Mary Brooks will be remembered always for the love she gave, the lives she touched, and the grace with which she lived.
