

Mary E. Carson, age 72, of Marietta, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Monday, July 3, 2013 at Antioch Baptist Church North, 540 Cameron M. Alexander Blvd. NW Atlanta, GA 30318. Interment will follow in Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery, Marietta. Mary, born to the late Elizabeth Moore and Garland Tolbert in Greenville, SC August 28th 1940 in her most cognitive years was a very vibrant and vivacious woman whose heart and soul was dedicated to the uplifting of children to meet their greatest potential. The greatest example beyond her own family was her 35 year leadership commitment to Girl Scouts of America in which some of it involved hosting Girl Scouts from around the world.
Today, that commitment has produced many women of distinction and accomplishment in various facets of medicine, science, civic, religious and social responsibility whom clearly show through their positions of power and authority a great foundation that now helps build their families and communities.
Other examples of her dedication include a strong commitment of more than 30 years to the education of children in both the Uniondale school system and the arts through one of New York’s most well known dancing schools in 70s, 80s & 90s, Gloria Jackson Dance Studio.
Mary was a world traveler and enjoyed international and domestic travel with her husband and their close friends. She was a cruiser with more than 10 cruises credited to her and her husband’s travel journals.
Mary is survived by her husband Leroy of more than 50 years and children; Tracy, Troy (Leroy, Jr.) and Jermaine as well as her grand children Darius and Ethan and close family bonds with a large family and friends. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at
