Mary Joann Mrus

Mary was born in 1934 in New York City to Lorenzo and Maria Piparo. She graduated from Cathedral High School and went on to dedicate many years of her life to caring for children, working at Holy Family and Mount Bethel Daycare. Mary and Joseph were married on August 25, 1956, and together, they raised 7 children: Dick, Joe, Diane, Thomas, Theresa, Robert, and Paul. 

Mary found joy in the simple blessings of life. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, prayer, traveling, and, most of all, spending time with her family. Her love, faith, and devotion to her family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph; granddaughter, Lisa; sister, Frances; and brother, Larry.

She is survived by her seven children: Dick, Joe (Sally), Diane (Calvin), Thomas (Stephanie), Theresa (Chip), Robert, and Paul (Nanette); as well as nine grandchildren and many loving family members and friends.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 3401 Lower Roswell Road, Marietta, GA 30068. A reception will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Mary’s memory.

Mary will be remembered for her warmth, faith, kindness, and unwavering love for her family. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love and cherished memories that will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
