Matt "Matty" Norvill

Norman Matthew Norvill, age 50, of Macon, Georgia (previously of Marietta, Georgia) passed away on February 1, 2019. He was born 1968 To James E. and Sharon R. Norvill. Matt grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he played baseball, participated in motor cross, and learned to play golf at 8 years old. He worked at many jobs while attending Snyder H.S. such as McDonalds’s, Red Lobster, and local TV stations doing commercials. Matt played on his H.S. golf team and they won the state championship. Matt attended Nova University in Davie, Florida on a Golf Scholarship. While attending college, he worked at many different jobs like Bartending, doing TV commercials in Miami, and working at Jacaranda Golf Club in Davie. He graduated from Nova University with a BS degree in Business, and a Master’s degree in Computer Science. He graduated from NSU School of Business with a MBA degree in Business. He graduated Shorter with a Master’s degree in Executive Leadership. Throughout his career, he was employed by Accenture Consulting as a consultant, Home Depot as a director, Floor Décor as a director of technical services and Strategic Technologies Group as President. After retiring in 2017, Matt enjoyed life by playing a lot of golf with his buddies in the Golf Cartel of Cobblestone Golf Club, starting a lot of home projects, and managing his properties at the beach and other locations. Matt was dearly loved by everyone, who knew him. He is survived by his Father Jim Norvill and his stepmother, Marilyn, of Marietta, Georgia; his aunt, Delores Frantz, of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; and girlfriend, Meredith Yarborough, of Macon, Georgia; and man’s best friend, “Bogey”. The family will receive guests between the hours of 10:00 am and 12:30 pm on Saturday February 9th, 2019 at H.M. Patterson & Son - Canton Hill, in Marietta. A Memorial service will be held at 11:00am on the same day. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you consider a donation in Matt Norvill’s name to the charity of your choice.

I am very sad to hear about Matty's passing and my condolences go out to the family. Within our group of friends, we always referred to Matty as "Mr. Matty" as we all had tremendous respect and admiration for Mr. Matty in regards to his demeanor, professionalism and just being an all around great guy.

I had the pleasure of knowing Matt for several years as we worked together at Floor & Decor. I remember him for being positive and always wearing a smile on his face! I was sad when he parted ways with the company and am so sorry that he's left this life as it feels like way too soon. My family will be praying for you all.
