He was born and raised on the island of Barbados where he participated in cricket, soccer and boxing. In 1950, at the age of 26, Meldon answered God’s call to the ministry and he would go on to serve as the pastor of three Church of God congregations.
In 1955 Meldon met Ethel Thomas at the Church of God campground in West Middlesex, Pennsylvania and they were married on March 19, 1956 in Cleveland, Ohio. Their union produced four children and Meldon was an active father and grandfather.
Meldon enjoyed reading the newspaper, studying the scriptures and preparing for his sermons. He thoroughly enjoyed people of all ages and socialized with people from all walks of life. One of his favorite pastimes was walking the mall and talking with everyone. He also took great pride in being well dressed.
