Merrill was a close friend dating from graduate school days at IU.  People were drawn to him because of his positive personality, intellectual curiosity, entrepreneurism, and  genuine interest in others.  Plus, he had real world business experience prior to academia which set him apart.   I will miss the many great discussions and good times we had at IU, in Europe, and in Atlanta.

Merrill, to your love of life and education. You'll be missed.

Even though, I did not know Merrill well. It was obvious he was a dedicated family man! He cared for his students as well and shared his talents in teaching with all of us! Our prayers go out to the family because we know he will be missed!
