Nancy (Nan) Keenan Cannon passed away peacefully during the evening of Sunday, March 24, 2024, while sitting next to her husband, Carl, enjoying a cocktail and hor d'oeuvres during their customary, nightly cocktail hour. She just had celebrated her 77th birthday earlier that month.
Nan was born to Jack and Jane Keenan in Bethlehem, PA and primarily lived outside Doylestown, PA and in Tampa, Florida during her childhood; although, as a young child, she lived a short while in Japan during her father's military service.
She graduated from Berkeley Preparatory School in Tampa and attended Oglethorpe University in Atlanta. She met Carl on a blind date at his fraternity house at Georgia Tech in 1965. They married in September 1967.
Following their marriage, Nan accompanied Carl to Athens, where he attended the University of Georgia Law School. While in Athens, Nan worked at the circulation desk of UGA's main campus library. After Carl's graduation from law school, he began active-duty military service, leading the couple to Charlottesville, VA, Anniston, Al, and back to Charlottesville. Nan resumed her college education during their time in Anniston, attending Jacksonville State University. She also took courses at the University of Virginia upon their return to Charlottesville.
Upon Carl's discharge from the Army in 1975, the couple made their home first in Atlanta and, for the last 45 years, in Marietta.
Nan was a passionate gourmet cook and loved preparing elaborate dinners. She also enjoyed gardening and was a longtime member and past president of the Primrose Garden Club.
Nan was predeceased by her parents and younger brother, John. She is survived by her loving husband Carl. She will be sorely missed by Carl and her many friends.
