Nancy Ford Searcy, age 87, of Kennesaw, Georgia, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025. Born in 1938 to the late Benjamin Rieves Ford and Dorthy Daniel Ford, Nancy lived a life rooted in faith, education, and service to others.
A graduate of the University of Georgia, Nancy earned her degree in English Literature, a field that reflected her lifelong love for language and learning. She dedicated much of her professional life to Richmond County Public Schools, where she made a lasting impact as an educator and mentor before her retirement.
Outside of her career, Nancy was an avid reader with a deep interest in biographies and the lives of world leaders, always eager to explore the stories that shaped history. Her intellectual curiosity was matched by her spiritual devotion; a proud and lifelong member of the Baháʼí Faith, Nancy lived by its guiding principles of unity, peace, and love for humanity.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Mary Dorthy Ford; and two half-sisters, Alyson and Louise. She is survived by her beloved husband, Dr. Ashburn P. Searcy Sr.; her daughter, Ann-Maxwell Searcy; her son, Ashburn P. Searcy Jr.; and her cherished grandsons, Michael James Malloy, Ashburn P. Searcy III, and Tobias “Toby” B. Searcy.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. HM Patterson & Son – Canton Hill Chapel is honored to be handling the arrangements.
Nancy’s legacy of compassion, scholarship, and spiritual grace will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.
