Patricia met James, her husband of 58 years, at a dance in August 1966, and they were married in 1968. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, commitment, and the many special moments that make a lifetime meaningful.
Patricia found great joy and fulfillment in teaching throughout her life. She taught sixth grade at Corpus Christi Catholic School in Dayton for two years before marrying James. While her time in the classroom was brief, her love of teaching never ended. As a devoted mother and grandmother, she shared her knowledge, encouragement, and curiosity with those around her, often holding "Grandma School" for her four grandchildren. Patricia's gift for teaching became a family legacy. She was the first of three generations of educators, inspiring her daughter Nancy to become a teacher and helping nurture a love of learning that continues with her granddaughters Gabrielle and Amy as they pursue careers in education.
Above all, Patricia treasured her family. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable happiness and pride. Whether gathering for family celebrations or playing a favorite card game, Patricia appreciated the simple pleasures of being surrounded by the people she loved. These moments created lasting memories that her family will cherish for years to come.
Patricia is survived by her beloved husband, James David; her children, Kathryn (Mike) Woods, Nancy (Bryan) Sandlin, and John (Michele) David; her beloved grandchildren, Gabrielle, Matthew, Amy, and Alex; and her sisters, Ann Hentrich and Dorothe Trick. She is also survived by extended family members and dear friends.
The family will receive guests for visitation at H.M. Patterson Funeral Home, 1157 Old Canton Road, Marietta, Georgia, on Monday, October 19, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. An additional visitation will be held at St. Monica's Catholic Church in Duluth, Georgia, on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, from 10:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., immediately prior to the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Monica's Catholic Church.
