Patricia (Pat) Houston of Marietta, GA. Passed away on May 12, 2025. She was born in Owensboro, KY. She adored her husband, to whom she was married to for 65 years. Ma, as she was known by everyone, valued education and hard work as the way to a successful life and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1950. All her children and their spouses graduated college. Her 17 grandchildren have either graduated or are in the process. While her husband worked at Lockheed as an Aerospace Engineer, she worked at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital as a psychiatric nurse while raising their 7 children. Ma was a founding member of Holy Family Catholic Church and has been a faithful parishioner since the 1970’s.
Her children and grandchildren remember her as the matriarch of the family who was a gentle soul. Ma was a reassuring presence to her family and inspired many confidences. She taught her children the importance of resilience, the power of kindness, and the value of integrity.
She loved family gatherings so she could spend time with her children and grandchildren. In later years, her favorite pastime was taking family members out for meals, especially to J. Christopher’s and the Marietta Burger Bar.
She is survived by her children: William (Dawn) Houston, Robert (Kathleen) Houston, Betty (Ken) Nixon, Michael (Lisa) Houston, Theresa Ann Houston (Predeceased), Donna (Randy) Awald, and Mark Houston (Melanie). She had 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
