

Paul Eugene Tuthill, 89, of Marietta, Georgia passed away on January 22, 2018. He was born on June 18, 1928 in Portsmouth, Virginia, to parents, Florence Jemmison and George Tuthill. He graduated from Wilson High in 1946. In July 1946 he enlisted in the United States Army and served as a baker during the occupation at Fukuoka and Kokura, Japan. In May of 1948 he was honorably discharged and entered inactive status in the Army Reserves. After leaving the Army, Paul enrolled in NACA Langley Field, Virginia in the Modelmaker Apprentice Program. It was during that time that he married his first wife, Mary Ann Stevens in Portsmouth, Virginia. In October of 1950 he was recalled to the Army and served in the Quartermaster Depot in Geissen, Germany during the Korean War, until November of 1951. In 1952 his first child, Linda Leigh, was born, and his second child was in born in 1954, Paul Anson, Sr. Paul graduated from NACA as Modelmaker Journeyman in May 1954 and worked in West Model Shop, Langley Field, Virginia. He moved to Georgia in April 1956 to work at Lockheed Martin Corp. as a Model Builder in the Experimental Engineering Dept. 72-45. Paul served as Leadman and temporary supervisor. He later transferred to the Company Training Department as an instructor until his retirement in 1990 as Senior CADAM graphics instructor. His first wife, Mary Ann passed away in September of 1978. In June of 1982, Paul married his second wife, Gwendolyn Fincher Jordan. He was a former member of Powers Ferry United Methodist Church, and was a current member at East Cobb United Methodist Church, Marietta, Georgia. Paul was able to trace his ancestral lineage back to Henry Tuthill, born 1580 in Saxlingham, Norfolkshire, England. He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn Tuthill; children, Linda Tuthill Proctor (Phillip Proctor) and Paul Anson Tuthill, Sr. (Julia Tuthill); step-daughter, Lisa Leigh Jordan Chaffman (James Chaffman); grandchildren, Marissa Rushing Fleming, Teri Chaffman Komperda, Jamie Chaffman Knopp, Paul Anson Tuthill, Jr.; great grandsons, Royal Fleming, Cooper James Komperda, and Colin Andrew Komperda; sister, Charlotte Louise Griffin (Richard Griffin); sister in law Ann Fincher Carter; and brother in law, Warner Ray Carter. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made in Paul’s memory to the Parkinson’s Foundation or to the Friendship Class at East Cobb United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at H.M. Patterson and Son Canton Hill Chapel on Thursday, January 25, 2018 with the family receiving visitors at 10am and the funeral at 11am. A committal service will follow at the Marietta Campground Cemetery, Marietta, Georgia.
