Ralph William Burruss, age 94, of Marietta, died Saturday, June 14, 2014. Mr. Burruss was born in Forsyth County, Georgia to Thad and Effie Holbrook Burruss. A Sergeant in the United States Army and veteran of World War II, Mr. Burruss received several medals and commendations while in service to his country. Mr. Burruss was a faithful member of Eastside Baptist Church and the R.O.M.E.O. club. He was preceded in death by his parents and 7 of his siblings. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Patsy Stanfield Burruss; sons, Phillip and Nan Burruss, and Jeff Burruss; grandson, Brett Burruss, all of Marietta; a brother, Charles Burruss of Redondo Beach, California. A funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 11 o’clock at Eastside Baptist Church. Mr. Burruss will lie in state 1 hour prior the service at the church. Rev. Ken Ellison and Rev. David Chauncey will officiate. Interment will follow at the Georgia National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 17, 2014 from 6 until 9 o’clock at Patterson’s Canton Hill.
