Ralph William Burruss

Ralph William Burruss, age 94, of Marietta, died Saturday, June 14, 2014. Mr. Burruss was born in Forsyth County, Georgia to Thad and Effie Holbrook Burruss. A Sergeant in the United States Army and veteran of World War II, Mr. Burruss received several medals and commendations while in service to his country. Mr. Burruss was a faithful member of Eastside Baptist Church and the R.O.M.E.O. club. He was preceded in death by his parents and 7 of his siblings. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Patsy Stanfield Burruss; sons, Phillip and Nan Burruss, and Jeff Burruss; grandson, Brett Burruss, all of Marietta; a brother, Charles Burruss of Redondo Beach, California. A funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 11 o’clock at Eastside Baptist Church. Mr. Burruss will lie in state 1 hour prior the service at the church. Rev. Ken Ellison and Rev. David Chauncey will officiate. Interment will follow at the Georgia National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 17, 2014 from 6 until 9 o’clock at Patterson’s Canton Hill.

Mr. Burruss was a true American, friend ,and father to 2 great boys. I will always remember him when I visited his home . He always had a great attitude and was always laughing when we talked . I do not think I could ever meet any finer people than himself and Mrs .Burruss. I will truly miss him, and hope I get to see him again in Heaven, as I know he will be there........A TRULY GREAT MAN........Dr. Terry Ward

Ralph has been a very dear friend ever since we moved here some 50 years ago. I have wonderful memories of the fishing we took at West Point Lake, Lake Eufaula and Canada. Jan and I will miss him very much

We are so sorry to hear of Ralph's passing! I have such great memories of living on Vester Drive and having the Burruss' as neighbors! What a wonderful memory of never ending ice cream, always a smile, and comfort for a little girl from Ralph and Patsy, and what love!
