Ralph (Butch) King, 82 of Powder Springs died Thursday August 8, 2024. Butch was the son of Mary and Ralph King and was born on March 23, 1942 in Donalsonville, GA. After graduating from Bainbridge High School, Ralph attended Albany Vocational Technical School for Mechanical Engineering. Ralph was a master mason and member of Springville Lodge #153 in Powder Springs.
Ralph worked for Colonial Pipeline for 26 years. He then decided to focus on the thing he really loved and that was carpentry. He enjoyed making furniture, swings, rocking chairs, prayer benches and even bird houses. His greatest joy was making rocking chairs for children. Each of his nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews received a rocking chair from Uncle Butch. Wherever he went in a store, a church or restaurant, anywhere he saw a child, he felt that child must have a rocking chair and he graciously provided one for them. What a great way to share ones talent.
Ralph also loved fishing, especially at Lake Seminole in South Georgia. He was always ready with rod or pole and bait in hand to go when someone mentioned fishing.
He was preceded in death by wife of 43 years, Judy. Ralph is survived by his daughters, Wendy King and Amanda Boyd and her husband David; son, Justin King; brothers, David King and Tommy King; sisters, Judy Fallecker and Sandra Mack; 3 grandchildren, Victoria, Jennifer and Ethan; 2 great-grandchildren, Janessa and August.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 12, 2024 at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Alan Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery is honored to serve the family of Mr. Ralph (Butch) King.
