Becky Mathis, 75, of East Cobb passed away unexpectedly on April 19th at Kennestone Hospital. She was a valued member of The Piedmont School of Nursing, class of 1963. She was a Registered Nurse that worked primarily in nursing homes around Metro Atlanta but retired in 2006. In February of this year, she celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary with her loving husband Donald. Above everything else, she had a selfless devotion to her children’s happiness, and welfare. She would commonly say, “I was put on this earth to take care of and love my babies” and she did that wonderfully. She will be remembered for her quick wit, youthful spirit, quirky sense of humor, love of nature, and the genuine kindness she showed to all. She is loved and missed by her husband Donald Mathis; her three children Laura Mathis Mulvanity (her husband Sean) of Richmond Hill, Ga; and Michael and Scott Mathis of East Cobb; her two grandchildren Katie & Mallory Mulvanity. & her sister Jacque Thompson of Cumming, Ga. At the family’s request, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for a donation at any level to The St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org/ her favorite charity.
