
Dr. Richard V. Concilio, age 81, passed away on July 29, 2016, in Marietta, Georgia, with his family by his side. Dick was born and raised in Newton, New Jersey. In high school he played football and wrestled. Upon graduation he entered Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA, and graduated with honors with a B.S. in Business Administration. He was a commissioned army officer and served with the 3rd Infantry Division. He spent 18 years with IBM and was selected as their top salesman in 1959. He also worked for IBM in the Netherlands, Belgium, and France and at IBM’s corporate headquarters. He worked for GTE where he was Vice President and General Manager of their General Products Division. He completed his MBA and Doctorate in Management and Marketing in 1977 and changed careers by entering the academic world. He was a Dean at Edison Community College in Ft. Myers, Florida, taught in the MBA program at the University of South Florida, taught at Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina, Berry College in Rome, Georgia, and Southern Poly in Marietta, Georgia. He became an entrepreneur by developing seven women’s apparel stores in Ft. Myers, Florida and several mobile home subdivisions and owning three large package stores in Macon, Decatur, and Douglasville in Georgia.
He is a member of Saint Ann’s Catholic Church and The Rotary Club of East Cobb. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Karen; son, Thomas; step daughter, Miska Davis; four grandchildren; and his great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be conducted at H.M. Patterson & Son Canton Hill at 11:00AM on Wednesday, August 3, 2016. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Mountain View Cemetery.
