Richard was born on November 6, 1925 to Emma (Gruse) and Sam Greenberger in Elyria , Ohio. He enlisted in the US Army at the end of WWII. Upon his discharge, he attended The Ohio State University where he met his future wife and lifelong love, Lenore Marjorie (Honig). While they lived many years in Beachwood, Ohio, his search for the “pot of gold at the end of the rainbow” took the family to California, Hawaii, and Florida before they finally settled in Marietta, Georgia where they lived for 45 years. Lenore preceded him in death. Richard’s strength, determination and fierce independence allowed him to care for Lenore in her final days and to live on his own through his remaining years. The day of Richard’s death was also the 68th anniversary of their marriage.
Loving father of Susan (Mark) Beadle and Nancy (Tracy Brackett) Lammons. Proud grandfather of Michael (Courtney) and Mark Jr.
Special thanks to the excellent doctors and nurses who cared for him at Northside Hospital and the wonderful staff of WellStar Tranquility Hospice who made his final hours peaceful.
