Richard M. "Dick" Kretzmer passed away at home on May 27, 2026.
He recently celebrated his 93rd birthday.
Dick was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Barbara, a daughter Kathryn Kretzmer, granddaughter Stephanie Miller, parents Theodore "Pal" & Mabel Kretzmer, and siblings Ted Kretzmer and Mabel Hurban.
He is survived by six children, Jim Kretzmer (Terry) of NC, Pat Roden of AL, Tom Kretzmer of GA, Terri Jones (Bryan) of TN, Bill Kretzmer (Pam) of GA and Dave Kretzmer (Marilyn) of SC, eleven grandchildren Erika Roa (Shamanth) of Barcelona, Spain, Julie Kretzmer of NC, Jason Roden of AL, Eric Roden (Tammy) of AL, Abby Chadwell (Taylor) of AL, Sara Jones of AL, Blake Kretzmer of MA, Ryan Kretzmer of GA, Laura Gibson (Brock) of SC, Anna Moody (Dakota) of SC, Matthew Kretzmer (Emily) of SC, seven great grandchildren, Sid Roa, Tyleigh Roden, Elijah & Rory Miller, Maddox and Cooper Gibson, and Nan Chadwell, a sister Beatrice Humphris of NJ, along with and countless other in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Born in Patterson, New Jersey, Dick graduated from Lodi High School and received his degree in Accounting from Pace University in New York City in 1957. During his lifetime career in corporate finance, he held positions in companies located in New Jersey, Wisconsin, Alabama and Georgia. Dick was a member of the Volunteer Police Department in Ridgewood, NJ. He served on the board at St. Anthony's Catholic School in Menomonee Falls, WI. He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Marietta, GA and the Knights of Columbus.
After the death of his wife and long-time companion, Dick became active and served as Treasurer of Widows Helping Others (WHO) at St. Ann's. He enjoyed playing cards and engaged in teaching pinochle at his retirement home. He also pursued his passion for ballroom dancing by regularly attending weekly dances until very recently at the American Legion in Alpharetta, GA.
Visitation at the Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home will be held at Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery, 2000 Cobb Pkwy SE, Marietta, GA 30060, on June 23, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass at the Catholic Church of St. Ann will be held at Catholic Church of Saint Ann, 4905 Roswell Road, Marietta, Georgia 30062, on June 24, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Richard’s final resting place will be on the Grounds of Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery, 2000 Cobb Parkway SE, Marietta, Georgia, 30060
