Richard M. Sawicki, 84, a Marietta resident, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014. Richard was born in Chicago, Illinois, September 3, 1929. Richard was married to his wife Joan, on October 21, 1950. They were married for 63 wonderful years and were blessed with 9 children, 10 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Richard was retired from Utica Mutual Insurance Company where he served as the Southeastern Regional Vice President. His favorite sport was golfing. He was also an avid runner and regularly participated in local 5k’s including the Peachtree Road Race. He and his wife enjoyed traveling across the United States, as well as, taking cruises through Europe. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joan Sawicki. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Martin and Antoinette Sawicki, and three sons. In lieu of flowers please send contributions to the Foundation for the Blind www.nfb.org . A funeral mass celebrating Mr. Sawicki’s life, will be held at Holy Family Church, 3401 Lower Roswell Road, Marietta, Georgia, 30068, (770)973-0038, at 11:00 o’clock, Thursday, February 20th, 2014. Interment of ashes will be held following the service, at Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, in Marietta, Georgia.
