Rita Carol Wagner

Rita was born in Mokena, Illinois on November 8th, 1935; she was the child of Frederick and Inez (Roberts) Werner. Rita attended Mokena Public Grade School and Joliet High School. She went on to attend and graduate from the Silver Cross Hospitals nursing program as a Registered Nurse in 1956. She met her husband, George in the spring of 1952 and they married on March 10, 1956. She was a surgical nurse and also worked in a physician’s office for many years. Rita enjoyed traveling with family and friends, volunteering with cub and girl scouts, working as a school nurse and bowling. She was a funny, fiery woman who was loved by many. She was a wonderful wife, mother and Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Rita is preceded in death by her parents; Frederick and Inez (Roberts) Werner; her husband, George Wagner and her brother Jim Roberts. She is survived by her sister, Joyce (Werner) Cupp; her brother, Mick Werner; her children George Wagner and Jamie (Wagner) Knowles and her grandchildren; Trevor Allen Wagner, Monica Walsh, Sarah Oakley and Nicholas Knowles.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 15th at 12:30pm at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2922 Sandy Plains Road, Marietta, 30066. Reception immediately following. Interment of ashes will follow at 2:30, in Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery, 2000 Cobb Parkway SE, in Marietta, 30060.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Social Ministries program at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Rita’s name.
