Ronald Leland Davenport

Ron, as known by all his family and friends, succumbed to cancer after an 18 year battle. Ron attended West Fannin High School Class of '58 and was a member of the very first West Fannin Football team as well as baseball and basketball. He served in the Military in the Army Reserve while obtaining his college Degree from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta. He was also an avid outdoors man and enjoyed Golf, Hunting and collecting vintage and antique items and memorabilia. He also loved music as well and especially the oldies Doo Wop style.

Ron's main focus along with his family was a passion for Christ and was a member of Mt Bethel United Methodist Church in Marietta where he was a Baritone in the Mt Bethel Chancel Choir and also served as President of the Choir for a time.

Known and loved by all as a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, Ron will be missed by everyone whose life he touched on this earth.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sharon Loudermilk Davenport of Marietta, Georgia; two sons Greg and his wife Angie of Marietta, Matt and his wife Deneshia of Marietta; 6 grandchildren (Jackson, Hala, Ellie, Kate, Madelaine, and Ryan); three brothers, Randall, Danny and Joey; one sister, Robin and his mother in law, Ruth Loudermilk of Copperhill, Tennessee; brother and sister in law Rick and Karen Posey; and a large extended family of close friends and relatives. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, August 30 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at H.M.Patterson and Son Funeral Home on Old Canton Road in Marietta. The funeral will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, August 31 at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church on Lower Roswell Road in Marietta. Dr. Randy Mickler will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Handy Helper Ministry or To The Least To The Lost Homeless Ministry in care of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church, 4385 Lower Roswell Road, Marietta, Georgia 30068 (770-971-2880).
