Rose was raised in Davenport, Iowa, and moved to the Atlanta area to attend college. It was there where she met the love of her life, her adoring husband and best friend, Allen Bond.
Rose & Allen lived in the same apartment complex, and one night late, Allen was in the common laundry room doing laundry. Rose had big pink hair curlers and fuzzy green bedroom slippers on, but she thought: “NOBODY will be in the laundry room THIS late”, and she gathered her laundry and went on down... but Allen was there, and they immediately started talking and quickly realized a connection. Before the clothes finished, they had their first date arranged. What are the odds that a girl from Iowa would show up in that basement laundry room in Atlanta, 1000 miles away from home, near midnight, and that her true soul mate would be sitting there with nothing else to do but talk for a half hour? Both later realized that this meeting was a direct answer to their individual prayers.
They were married in 1976 in Allen's former home, Griffin, GA. This marriage has lasted for the 38 years since, and was a wonderful, happy journey through life for both.
Rose graduated from Stratford Women's College, and attended Georgia State University. She went to work for the federal government in the GSA for a time, and then was hired by the Federal Communications Commission Atlanta Field Office, where she worked until her passing, with over 40 years of service.
She had a strong Christian faith. When Rose and Allen moved to Marietta at the time they married, they joined Faith Lutheran Church on Lower Roswell Road. She loved serving on various committees and on the altar guild, and was a regular at early services on Sundays. Her bible was very well worn and heavily notated. She always went straight to her Bible for answers. She knew and loved a great many in this church family, and her many friends at work and in her neighborhood, where she lived her entire married life. She liked it and the people, and never saw any reason to move. She was an “early bird”, and was hardly ever late for anything in her entire life, she was absolutely dependable, totally reliable, trustworthy, and the most loyal and faithful friend, spouse, mother, and confidant that a person could be lucky enough to have. If you were fortunate enough to be her friend or family member, you had an unshakable ally for life.
She had a bright smile and a wonderful, unique laugh that Allen loved. She almost always smiled, except immediately upon arriving home after driving in Atlanta traffic. The “traffic frown” was always instantly replaced with her smile as soon as she saw us. One of her trademark sayings was:
“It's not worth getting upset over.”
Rose loved birthdays as a great way to show someone that you care enough about them to remember them, and she never forgot a birthday of a friend or family member. We ALL knew better than to forget hers! She kept a large stock of birthday cards so that she could select a perfect one for anyone at a moment's notice. She was also a true “Christmas girl”, and loved to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas, always decorating early so that she could enjoy the decorations for as long as possible. She raised two wonderful children to productive, Christian adulthood.
Rose passed away of an apparent heart attack while at work. Her friends at work tried as best they could to revive her with CPR, as did the EMS team, but apparently her heart stopped and she passed away quickly, and for that we are very grateful. Allen is also eternally grateful for the 38 years of marriage that God blessed him with, sharing those years with his perfect soul mate. They had a wonderful, happy life together, and after all those years, you rarely saw them together without them either holding hands or without Allen's arm around her. She will be truly missed here. Great joy in your new life, Rose... until we meet again!

" What is Marriage ? "
Marriage is waking up in the morning with a partner by your side, and together, letting God be your guide-
It's having someone to share, the good times and the bad , it's having them cry with you, when everything is sad-
It's knowing that when things are right, the joy fills your souls, it's knowing that things are wrong, Both of you share the cold-
It's watching your children together, grow, run, and play, seeing them experience life, each and every day-
It's looking into their eyes , when LOVE is all that's there, it's the gentle way, they run their fingers through your hair-
It's loving those special moments, that only you can feel, it's living day to day , proving your love is real-
It's growing older together, sharing whatever life may send, It's knowing that " True Love", Never has an end-
Yes, it's many ways of sharing, with a partner of your soul, "But perhaps most of all, It's the way you make each other whole !"
