Steven Charles Barrett, or “Stevie” as his grandchildren called him, age 67 of Marietta, Georgia, went home to heaven on May 25, 2018. He was born in 1951 to Charles “Chick” and Rita Barrett. He graduated from Georgia State University with a degree in business and had a long and successful career life spanning from construction equipment sales, to owning his business, Marietta Communications Service, and now as a financial planner.
In his spare time, Steve enjoyed spending time with his family and dear friends. He could always be found at any event for his grandchildren, who adored him. Steve loved Hog Heaven, the family fishing camp in Florida founded by his father and friends. “Boss Hog” Steve planned twice yearly visits with lifelong friends, family and most especially his son in law and grandson. He enjoyed working on his Willys Jeep, cooking on his Big Green Egg and spoiling his grandchildren as often as possible!
Steve was dearly loved by Teresa, his wife of nearly 45 years; his daughter Mandy and her husband Matt, and his grandchildren Charlie and Adelyn. He was treasured by his late daughter, Melissa. His beloved family included his brothers Mike and Jeff, sister Leslie, nieces and nephews and many dear and precious lifelong friends. Through his life, Steve was well known as a devoted son and son-in-law, friend to many, and an enthusiastic parent and grandparent.
The family will receive guests between the hours of 11:00 am and 12:00 pm on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta, Georgia. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Eastside Baptist Church.
