Teresa Anne Young

Teresa “Terri” Anne Young, 64, a 20 year resident of Marietta, passed away on August 22nd after a two year battle against breast and bone cancer. Terri is survived by her husband of 43 years Russell Young, two daughters, Megan Young-Thomas and Tracie Young, son-in-law Bill Thomas as well as grandson William Russell Thomas and granddaughter Sarah Thomas. Terri was born October 4, 1945 in Ottawa, Illinois, married in Chicago on August 5th, 1967 and moved to Marietta in 1989. Holding degrees from both St. Xavier College and Governor’s State University in Illinois, and following a career of teaching elementary school and directing plays for the park system of Chicago, she found her passion in drug and alcohol counseling. Terri is remembered as a very creative and compassionate giving person who touched so many lives from Chicago to Atlanta to Sydney, Australia. She will be sorely missed. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 27 at 2:00pm at H.M. Patterson & Son Canton Hill Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers her wish is to honor her memory by way of donations to the Aflac Children’s Cancer Center at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Johnsonferry Rd. location.
