Thomas William Garrett, 50, reunited with our Lord and Savior on Friday, December 2, 2022 surrounded by the comforting love of his wife and both daughters. The world has lost a great husband, father, son, brother, and friend.
Tom was born on April 6, 1972 in Youngstown, Ohio. He spent most of his childhood in Easton, Pennsylvania. He attended Penn State from 1990 to 1994. He held a Bachelor of Science in Marketing.
After graduation, Tom moved to the Washington D.C. area. In 1997, he met and married the love of his life, Victoria Johnson. They relocated to Sparta, New Jersey in 2002 and spent 8 wonderful years in the Lake Mohawk community. With a leap of faith and desire for a different lifestyle, they settled with their two beautiful daughters, Morgan and Ashley, in Marietta, Georgia. He worked for Labelmaster for the past 9 years as a Diamond Club National Sales Manager.
He is survived by his loving family: Victoria Garrett (wife), Morgan Garrett (20), and Ashley Garrett (19). His parents, Tom and BJ Garrett, reside in Griffin, Georgia. His sister, Jamie Gallo, along with her husband Steve Gallo and children Kendall and Ansley, reside in Los Angeles, California. His mother in law and sister in law, Carol and Sarah Johnson, reside in Everett, Washington.
One of Tom’s greatest accomplishments was being a devoted husband, father and son. He always wanted a family and considered himself lucky enough to have two beautiful girls. His girls have always called their dad their “best friend”, and especially now as young adults, still see him that way. Tom had a unique ability to bond with Morgan through sports and quality time and Ashley through scuba diving and fine dining. Tom was Victoria’s rock and best friend. Their marriage was a genuine friendship, full of love, laughter and mutual support. As a son, Tom brought tremendous joy into his parents’ lives and was a constant source of love and support.
His involvement in the East Cobb community was immeasurable and profound. He significantly advanced the Rad Dads program at Murdock Elementary School, through promotion of events and enhancing local fathers community involvement. He coached and refereed lacrosse from youth programs all the way through high school. This included being a coach on the B12 middle school team when Morgan was involved. Tom was the Lead Lacrosse Referee Trainer for girls lacrosse in Georgia and was a mentor for many girls in the process. He was a long-time board member and President of PORA, where his dedication and passion proved beneficial to members of all ages. He had a strong passion for youth and happily dedicated his life helping kids through subbing and various programs. Tom always brought a smile to people when serving at East Cobb Church. Tom touched so many people with his generosity and willingness to lend a hand and pitch in wherever needed.
As many of you know, Tom could never sit still. From pizza delivery to organizing neighborhood gatherings (legendary parties, poker parties, firepits, and so much more), he was always trying to bring people together. Some of the words Tom’s friends put together about Tom are: funny,
caring, happy go lucky, bourbon lover, positive, loving, big hearted, Christ-like, selfless, loved surprises, practical joker, adventurous, passionate, giving, leader, made life fun, kid at heart, a friend to all.
