Vicki Lynn Huguley, 77, of Marietta, passed away early Saturday, December 22nd, 2018, peacefully in her sleep. She was born in 1941 in Albany, Georgia to William and Polly and grew up in Albany, GA. The family moved to Jacksonville, FL for a few years and then settled in Druid Hills, GA, where Vicki and her sister attended Druid Hills High School. After graduating HS in 1959, she attended Michigan State University in East Lansing, where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and graduated in 1963. Vicki immediately put her degree to work and started teaching 2nd Grade at Maire Elementary School in Michigan. She loved the students and always enjoyed interacting with young, inquisitive minds. Her students would routinely stop by to visit with her at home and frequently voted her as ‘teacher of the year’ or ‘favorite teacher’. She taught full time and as a substitute teacher for 15 years. Vicki was also involved with Junior League and Tennis during this time. After many cold and wintry years in Michigan, Vicki decided to relocate back to Georgia to be closer to her mother, father and sister. She embarked on a new career in Real Estate, starting with managing commercial properties in and around the Atlanta area. She worked with Carter & Associates for several years and managed such properties at Phipps Plaza (where she honed her considerable shopping skills) and spent the last 8 years of her career with First Capital & Associates leasing commercial space. Once Vicki retired, she dedicated her time and energy on helping others through philanthropic and volunteer opportunities. She spent countless hours with groups such as Good Mews, Habitat for Humanity and The Nature Conservancy. She was known throughout Cobb County (and most of the State) as a tireless, passionate advocate for rescue animals. In her spare time, Vicki enjoyed travel, her family, church, gardening, helping others, shopping, doting on her Grandkids, and eating out with her husband, Kenneth. She was dearly loved by her husband of 27 years, Kenneth, and they were fixtures in and around the East Cobb area. She is predeceased by Kenneth Huguley; and her sister, Sandra Kaye Abney. She is survived by her two sons, Jeffrey St. John and Chris St. John; her Grandchildren, Dylan St. John, Summer St. John, Madison St. John, and Violet St. John; her nieces, Lynn Abney and Katie McConnell. Her death is mourned by Pat and Oliver Porter, Helen and Steve Kraus, Wayne and Pat Brantley, Barbara Walt, Jean Mills, Dr. Leslie Brown, the staff at the Johnson Ferry Waffle House, the staff at Long Horn’s at Lower Roswell, Hamp, Petey, George and Lucy. Vicki was known for her infectious laughter, her sense of humor, her kindness and her generosity. She genuinely ‘never met a stranger’ and would strike up a conversation with absolutely anyone, anywhere there was an opportunity. She also had the innate ability to connect with people on a very personal level and make them feel better about themselves having been around her. The family will receive guests between the hours of 12pm and 1:45pm on Sunday, December 30th, 2018 at H.M. Patterson & Son-Canton Hill, 1157 Old Canton Road in Marietta. A chapel service and dedication will take place from 2:00pm – approximately 3:00pm within the Chapel at H.M. Patterson & Son-Canton Hill location. The Funeral Service will be held at 3:30pm at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery at 201 Mt. Vernon Hwy, Sandy Springs GA. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you consider a donation in Vicki’s name to: The Nature Conservancy, Habitat for Humanity or Good Mews.
