Victoria Wertz

Born in Evanston, IL, to Michael and Vivian Shaw and raised in Lake Forest, IL. Vicki was loving, kind, and independent from a young age.

In 1978, at age 17, Vicki moved to Monroe, LA, where she graduated from Northeast Louisiana University with a degree in Business Administration. During her time there, she became an EMT and later transferred to New Orleans, where she met and married Paul Ivan Wertz, in 1989. They had four children and moved to Atlanta, GA in 1997 where they had their fifth child.

Vicki loved spending time with friends and family, whether coaching her daughters’ softball team and supporting her sons in various sports, cooking alongside her children, gardening, vacationing with her friends, or going on walks. She cared deeply about helping others and sharing new perspectives. She devoted her time volunteering for Emergency Medical Service, Teach One to Lead One, handing out blankets to the homeless or simply helping a neighbor with yardwork.

Vicki had a wide range of experience throughout the years, ultimately building and running her own company, North Star Title Services, with her business partner, Julia Hodge. Above all, if asked what her greatest accomplishment was, she would always say it was raising her five children.

Vicki is survived by her sisters Sandra Croucher, Heather Joy, Dr. Kate Shaw, and Kathleen Kopsell; her five children, Nicholas Wertz, Melinda (Mimi) Murphy, Spencer Wertz, Kelsey Householder, and Brooke Wertz, along with their spouses, Pearce Murphy, Jessica Wertz, and Jake Householder; five beloved grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and numerous close friends.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for August 15th at 2 p.m. at H.M. Patterson & Son-Canton Hill Chapel (1157 Old Canton Rd, Marietta, GA 30068).
