

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Walter Manning, a beloved father, husband, and grandfather, who left this world on October 29, 2023. Walter Manning, aged 81, peacefully departed, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and devotion.
Born in 1942, Walter's journey through life was marked by dedication and love. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1964, a time that included the tense Cuban Missile Crisis. His commitment to serving our nation was a testament to his character and valor.
After his honorable discharge, Walter embarked on a career as an aircraft mechanic. For 49 years, he dedicated himself to maintaining and ensuring the safety of the skies, working for Delta Airlines. His dedication and hard work to the aviation industry made him a respected figure among colleagues and a source of pride for his family.
Beyond his professional achievements, Walter's true passion in life was his family. He was a loving and devoted husband to his sweetheart, Elaine Manning, with whom he shared a deep and enduring love. Their bond was a shining example of what true love meant, and their journey together was filled with countless cherished moments.
As a father, Walter was a constant source of support and guidance, instilling values of hard work and perseverance in his children. He was a role model and a pillar of strength, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear.
Walter's role as a grandfather was one he cherished. Known as “Poppop” by his 10 adoring grandchildren, he reveled in the joy they brought into his life. He delighted in sharing stories of his own experiences and teaching them life's important lessons.
Walter had an adventurous spirit and a love for travel. He and Elaine's journeys took them to countless beautiful destinations, but their favorite escapes included cruises and beach trips, with Saint Lucia being a particular favorite. These experiences created lasting memories and brought immense joy to their lives.
In the hearts of those who knew him, Walter Manning will forever be remembered as a man of honor, integrity, and unwavering love. His legacy lives on through his family, his friends, and the countless lives he touched during his journey on this earth. He is preceded in death by his wife Elaine. He is survived by his son Paul and daughter-in-law Melanie, his son Dennis and daughter-in-law Marcella, his brother Dennis Manning, Kristin and Steve Yeager, Jason Hamby, and his ten grandchildren, Munro Manning, Aleena Manning, Noah Manning, Caroline Manning, Bailey Yeager, Emma Yeager, Alley Yeager, Carter Hamby, Ryan Hamby and Andrew Hamby.
A memorial service to celebrate Walter's life will be held Saturday, November 4th, at 11 am at H.M. Patterson & Son – Canton Hill Chapel (1157 Old Canton Rd, Ne, Marietta, GA 30068).
